 Ohio voters approved a measure legalizing recreational marijuana earlier this month, making Ohio the 24th state to allow adult cannabis use for non-medical purposes.

OHIO ADULT USE SUMMARY:

Passed by Ohio voters, new law permits adults to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana or 15 grams of marijuana extract, which can be purchased from licensed retail locations. A 10% tax will be placed on retail cannabis products. Individuals can grow up to 12 plants in a private residence where at least two adults reside.

Medical to Adult-Use Licenses:

Existing medical dispensaries shall be issued an adult-use license for their existing location. Each medical dispensary could be issued 1 additional license to be placed at another location. 

The state would issue 50 additional adult-use licenses with preference to social equity applicants.

The state may issue additional cannabis licenses 2 years after the first adult-use license is issued.

Adult-use applications would be available within 6 months of passage of the Act.
